Since 1996, Ahmed Al Hameli has known nothing else but his close affinity with living life on the waters. Versatile in his outlook, Ahmed has had the experience of competing through a range of watersport categories including aquabikes, wooden powerboats, XACTs, F2 and F1.
It was only in 2006 that Ahmed made his debut in actual watersports when he joined the highly-successful set up of Team Abu Dhabi. But a few seasons down the line and Ahmed followed his long-time manager and close confidant Scott Gillman into the Team Emirates set-up for the 2015 season.
However, fresh challenges lured him away to eventually don the blue colours of Dubai-based, Victory Team.
In a glittering career that now spreads across more than two decades, Ahmed Al Hameli has participated in 79 Grand Prix races, during which he has won seven times and picked up a further 12 podium finishes after starting from pole position at least 10 times.
Arguably, his best season came in 2011 when he finished fourth overall in the UIM F1 H2O World Championships. However, a serious illness in 2012 forced him to stop racing temporarily even though he had taken a healthy lead in the Championship standings. But, the fighter that he is, Ahmed returned even stronger the following season as he started from pole position to win the 2016 Grand Prix of Liuzhou in China.
